"Above All"

The thing I reached for, pined for, was so bereft of for so many years...love. And then my daughter came and changed it all!

Two great men, Bud Bell on piano  and Mel Nelson, bass. The first time I saw Bud and Mel was at a concert in Sacramento at the university. They played to a packed house, opened with an original song. At the end of the song the entire audience leaped to their feet, they were that amazing!  Cool, collected, inspiring, the most accomplished, moving musicians. I knew I had to work with them and did. I can still hear their easy laughs, see the beautiful concentration on Bud's face as he commanded the ivories. Bud called me a few years ago, he had been in an accident and broke his hands and could play no more, truly tragic.I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with him and Mel. Dear Bud passed away not long ago at an early age, peacefully in sleep with a heart failure...something in the way he lived his life never happened.  Listen to those piano rolls...And LOVE ABOVE ALL.

  Bud Bell

Above All

Music & Lyrics: Terri New
Hard-hearted man
Life deal you an empty hand
Hard-hearted
The one who builds the wall, not asking what life requires at all
To be human, to be whole, of the depths within us all
of dignity and of pride of showing love above all
Above All, above all, above all

Soft-spoken man, cool, soft and serene
Soft-spoken
Loneliness subsides when I build this man inside
A man with heart for all to see
A man with tears that flow free
A man who gives,  life his all
A man who shows love above all
Above all, above all, above all

Soft-spoken man, life budge you? It never seems
Soft-spoken
Reflections of us all, when we've taken down the wall
We're the ones with hearts for all to see
Ones with tears that flow free
The ones who gives,  life its all
The ones who show love above all
Above all, above all, above all
The man who shows me love, Above all shows me love
ABOVE ALL

A man with heart for all to see
A man with tears that flow free
A man who gives his life his all
A man who shows love is all
A man who shows love above all
Love above all, Love above all,
Love above all, Love above all, all
