"Africa"

In my wildest dreams I was not prepared for the wonder of my life today. I am on the African continent regularly, experience and capture in video the most rarified, rich animal life imaginable... here is our latest adventure!

How many moons ago did I record this song...the 70s, I had only been to Northern Africa at this time!  I was living in Carmel, CA and a friend of mine, Gaston Georis, a Belgian transplant, who has a most wonderful restaurant, Casanova, with his brother Walter. Gaston Georis is also a musician and introduced me to this song recorded by a French artist, Rose Laurens. We wrote the English lyrics together. My version was produced by renowned music producer, Bob Esty and engineered by Ashley Brigdale, a one of a kind British bloke, whose former acts included the Sex Pistols. That beautiful horn section is Gary Grant with the "Castle Wall" you heard them on the "Thriller" Album of Michael Jackson fame. Percussion, by Prince Joni Haastrup, one of Nigeria's most respected and beloved musicians. "I am in love with a wild untamed land!"...and that wild untamed man who brings me there!

Africa

Music/Lyrics: Jean-Michel Bériat Jean-Pierre Goussaud Elaine Stive (1993)English Lyrics: Terri New & Gaston Georis
I'm in love with a wild untamed land
A  sorcier,  voodoo painted my face
The spell it moves to the beat of the tom-toms
Perfumed magic on soft woman skin

Africa, how I feel like dancing
Just like you
Driven to the chanting
Africa, moving with the passion
As you do
Obeying the souls command
Africa,  Africa

Dangerous,  sensual, under the sweet rain
With panther, gazelle,  daylight is ending
I'm lured back to the grass huts shadow
I long for my tribe and I long for you
Africa
Dancing barefoot under the red sun
The Gods are kneeling, hearts are swaying
The fire ignites becomes a rebel
The cry of shamans pierce the blazing sky
Africa, how I feel like dancing
Just like you
Driven to the chanting
Africa, moving with the passion
As you do
Obeying the souls command

I'm in love with a wild untamed land
Africa, how I feel like dancing
I'm in love with a wild untamed land
Africa, how I feel like dancing
I'm in love with a wild untamed land
Africa, how I feel like dancing
I live in a wild untamed land
Africa, how I feel like dancing
I'm in love with a wild untamed land
AFRICA!
